Sleep Test
Well I did it! Sleep test. First you get wired- electrodes at your eyes to detect REM sleep; sensors up your nose to sense pressure and temp of breath; sensor before your mouth to test temp and pressure of mouth breathing; sensor on your throat to detect vibrations from snooring; leads on both legs and both sides of collar bone for EKG; leads behind both ear and at about 6 other spots on your head and forehead for EEG; bands around upper and lower chest to detect from whence one does breath; digital oximiter on finger to read oxygen levels; microphone over your head to dectect snoring; infared light camera over the end of your bed to watch you - and then they say relax and go to sleep. You start out following commands like hold eyes open, hold eyes shut, move eyes in all directions, wiggle feet, breath, hold breath... Then you are to have a good night. Well I did not. The connections aren't really all that bad but they did tell the technician that I was not breathing in my sleep very much so I was awakend from my labored/restless sleep to try a CPAP machine which about killed me so we tried a different mask and I slept ok. When I moved and it whistled it woke me up. Will take some getting used to but it seems to have worked and will improve my health. So much is impacted by proper sleep. If you are restless, tired, depressed, grumpy, and snore maybe you should have this lovely test too.
