What does this day hold?

Each day we are alive is a gift. Each moment we draw breath we pull God the Creator, the Source of Life, into our veins. God loves us. With God on our side, scripture says, who can be against us, nothing is impossible for us. Christ Jesus says we can do greater things than he did.
What does this day hold? Anything and everything! We can do all things through Christ who gives us strrenth!
Don't let fear or doubt hold you back from being the person God has called you and gifted you to be. Our days in this life are too precious and too few to waste. This is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day to celebrate your life, God's love, the lives of those you love. This is the day to do work you enjoy and find fulfilling. Today is the day to laugh and love. Learn something new and share it with others now.
Today is a gift known as the present. Open it and savour all it has to offer.
Too many people walk around as though they are already dead. Live, really live. The world needs you to help complete it.

Thanksgiving

This week the United States of America will celebrate Thanksgiving. I think for the most part this country has lost touch with such an occasion. We now think of Thanksgiving as a time of gathering with family and overeating on traditional foods such as turkey, masked potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and apples. The day is called Thanks and Giving. It seems to me it should be about being thankful and sharing what we have. We have so much to be thankful for and yet we seem so often to be dissatisfied. Perhaps it is because we seek fulfillment in the wrong things. Maybe we should recall that the first celebrants of thanksgiving struggled for a warm home, enough food, safety, warm clothing, freedom of faith and political opinion.....
What, it seems to me, we should value is freedom even as it dwindles with the Patriot Act; abundance as many US citizens are over weight; plenty as our closets are filled and we have warm homes even as inflation nips at our heels; ... What we should strive to increase is peace, health, hope, love, joy, safety, unity, harmony, grace.... What we should share is ourselves and encouragement as well as our resources.
The time is now to be the best we can be, share the best of ourselves, and make a mark on this world by loving others, our environment, God as we understand God, and yes ourselves to unifying wholeness.

Wind

The leaves are about all dropped now. Well I suppose one could say there are plenty more to fall. Yet the wind and the rain have cleaned leaves from hundreds of trees in our area and the fall is making way for winter. The temperatures are not very cool so one can forget that winter is upon us - even the winds have a certain warmth to them. The radicall changes in the past few weeks bring to mind the question - what really matters? what is eternal?
In my mind, heart and soul I know: that everything matters and yet we are not to take any one thing too seriously; that God the Creator is eternal and constantly ready to love and affirm us; that life in some form always was and always will be; that change is inevitable. Today I heard a good quote: 'Success is not permanent. Failure is not fatal.' We are told that air/the wind is the breath of God. God breathed into humus and humans were born. When God breathes into us anew we are revitalized with the Spirit of God empowering us to do and be love alive.

Beautiful Day

Fall is so lovely this year. It must be the frost and the unusual warmth that have combined to make the colors so glorious this year. I don't think I have seen a prettier Ohio fall in my 17 years of dwelling here.
Dwelling..... I have lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Colorado, and Kansas. I have visited 3/4 of the continental United States and have had brief visits to Canada and Mexico. I watch a lot of nature shows of all the wonders throughout the world. God is so great! Such a grand and diverse creation has been entrusted to our care. So often we don't seen to care - so how can we be good stewards of this gift?.
We are all given the responsiblity of caring for our enviornment. All of us must do our part. We waste so much, we kill off so much. I am ashamed of myself for the waste I create. I am saddened and frustrated that I don't know how to do better - I don't know my options for precycling, recycling, conserving,... in my own home and at my work. Time, energy, space - these are all factors in our ability to conserve. Yet if each of us changes one thing I bet we could make a huge difference. Why don't we try?

Raining today

Rain - a method God created to cleanse the air of pollutants and dirt,; a way God feeds and renews the earth; something people can dance in for fun.
Today it is raining and the lovely colored leaves are being pulled to the earth creating a composting blanket. The rain is reducing the pollen count and washing some of the dust out of the air from the harvet of beans and corn. The air is heavy and hard to breathe right now.
Does this sound like Eeyore or what?! So often we let our enviornment and/or circumstances weigh us down flat. We let the external squash the flame of life, -love, hope, joy and peace - within us until no one on the outside can see it and we have to consciously seek it within ourselves. Each day is a gift and we can choose to celebrate no matter what is going out around us. We can be the spark of hope in times of terror. We can choose to affirm what is good. This is part of the free gift of choice given to us by our creator. Use your gifts wisely.
